Read More we didn’t seem to spend enough time on due to the fast pace, so in order to really learn the material that’s covered you have to be prepared to dedicate a lot of time outside of class to understand it. Not everyone was as dedicated to learning the material in general, so the wide range of student levels resulted in poor group project dynamics at times. They have a team dedicated to student success which I was happy about as they post jobs, set up career fairs, and have a career prep week, but in my opinion the career week should be replaced by more backend topics as career week. Overall, I’m glad I chose DigitalCrafts!

I was extremely happy with my experience at DigitalCrafts. They give you tons or resources you need to succeed, but you need to make sure you work hard and attend all classes. For people trying to decide if DigitalCrafts immersive program is a good fit for them, ask yourself these questions: Can you commit all your energy to strictly coding for 4 months straight? Are you willing to put in time outside of class to learn even more beyond the scope of the course? If the answer is no to either of these questions then consider enrolling part-time. Going through the program successfully and being one of the strongest students in my cohort, I'd like to leave some imparting wisdom to people considering this course. Do the pre-work and ask a lot of questions!! You're paying too much money to not be giving this 200% of your effort. Understand that these are complex topics and you will not learn this material overnight. My recommendation if you're serious about this would be to look up the curriculum prior to enrolling and take a few months to get a feel for some (not all) of the technologies being used. This will put you miles ahead of other students and will give you a solid foundation for setting up your coding environment, the fundamentals of programming, and realistic expectations coming into the program. All in all DigitalCrafts has a great reputation for good reason, the tools to succeed are there you just need to be willing to put in the work.

I had no experience prior to DigitalCrafts and my experience was great! The curriculum is based on in-demand technologies that I feel are going to help me find a job soon. This is a bootcamp, so there will be times where you may feel like you're taking... The curriculum itself is fantastic and gave me all of the tools I needed to enter the job field with confidence. If you are unsure of where to attend I cannot recommend DC enough!

I can't say that anyone coming in with no experience will be job ready by the end of this course but they do provide lots of resources to aid in securing employment post-graduation. Overall attending DC was a great experience and I recommend it to people with a proclivity for problem-solving, a desire to learn A LOT, and a self-starting work ethic.

PROS Every class will have one instructor and two assistants that have completed the class within the last year or so that has a better idea of your level of expertise than the teacher might. Read More that my teacher has been coding since middle school and has an enormous amount of time and experience in the industry where things change so rapidly. My teacher would stop to make sure would understood complex subjects and even went above and beyond to teach things that may have not necessarily been part of the curriculum but, in their experience, was important to cover. CONS: The course never really went too deep into algorithms which isn't required for some job interviews but understanding these concepts is important to working at larger tech companies. Granted, there is only so much time to teach everything in a field that requires you to know a lot but I would have been grateful for a week dedicated to just that subject.

Pros of DC: - supports your coding journey with knowledgeable instructors and teaching assistants - pushes you to take on projects where you continue to learn as you go and develop a well-rounded skillset - gives you structure during your learning journey... Read More and pushes you to code every day - very frequent surveys and check-ins to monitor how they can improve to help you succeed - great career services team (help with resumes, portfolios and a chance for a mock interview, and posts relevant job openings for you to apply) - connects you with a vast network of other DC alums Cons of DC: - fast-paced due to the amount of material you have to cover (however, covering a lot of material is also a pro) - doesn't have time to cover in-depth theory behind what you are learning, focuses on practical skills instead - if you don't like working in teams then this could be a con, most of your projects will be team-based
